April 10, 2009 (updated April 30, 2009)
In an effort to make household recycling more convenient and simpler for residents, the Richland County Solid Waste Department has opened three new
Recycling Drop off centers in the County.
The Drop-off centers are located at the following locations:
The county’s public works department, 400 Powell Road, off Pisgah Church Road
Clemson’s Sandhill Research and Education Center, 900 Clemson Road
Sonoco Recycling, 1132 Idlewilde Blvd, off Bluff Road
Residents will be able to recycle:
• Glass
• Cardboard
• Newspaper
• Junk mail
• Box board / Cereal Boxes
• Bottles/Plastic Containers
• Steel & Aluminum cans
Richland County hopes the new center will encourage residents to recycle their household items that would have eventually ended up in the landfill.
Reducing landfill space saves the County thousands of dollars each year and increases the county’s continued effort to “go green”.
