Getting Your Curbside Trashcan
When moving into a brand new home, a rollcart and a recycle container must be obtained from Richland County for a setup fee of $48.00. Contact Richland County Department of Solid Waste and Recycling at 803-929-6000 to set up an account. Once the setup fee and the service fee has been paid a new rollcart and recycling container will be delivered to your address.
Richland County provides citizens with weekly pickup for household garbage, weekly or bi-weekly recycling, and weekly yard waste. Curbside collection is also provided for bulk Items. Contact Richland County, at 803-929-6000, to determine the pickup for your property. Pickup times vary based on the hauler’s route, so ensure your cart is curbside for pickup by 7 a.m. on collection day. The annual fee for garbage collection is typicaly included in each property owner’s tax bill.

Richland County accepts the following items for recycling:
• Metal Cans
• Plastic bottles and jars labeled #1-#7
• Corrugated cardboard, including pizza boxes
• Chipboard (non-corrugated cardboard)
• Magazines, catalogs and phone books
• Newspapers and junk mail
• Milk and juice cartons
• Frozen dinner and other plastic trays and plastic baskets
• Glass bottles, jugs and jars
Holiday Schedule Pickup
No garbage or recyclables will be collected on New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. If collection is interrupted due to a holiday schedule, your garbage or recycling will be picked up the day following your usual pick-up day.
