Richland County Council unanimously appointed Tony McDonald the Administrator of Richland County Government in December 2012. Tony McDonald is a native of South Carolina and has served Richland County in various capacities over the past twenty seven years, including that of Assistant County Administrator and two stints as the County’s interim manager.

Mr. McDonald has extensive experience in budget development, human resource management, economic development, and public works. He holds a Master of Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science both from the University of South Carolina. McDonald is a member of several professional organizations to include the American Society for Public Administration, the South Carolina City and County Managers Association, as well as the Government Finance Officers Association.
