Term expires: 2014

Email: malinowskib@rcgov.us

Mr. Bill Malinowski was sworn into office on January 2nd 2007 as the Richland County Councilmember representing Richland County Council District #1.

Mr. Malinowski says high among his priority list is working with his constituents and the business community to create more positive relationships when it comes to balancing the demands of growth in his area.

Mr. Malinowski believes that it is important to protect the rural character of his community, while at the same time creating a positive climate for businesses to grow and develop.

What inspired you to run & serve on County Council?
The opportunity to give something back to the community and the fact I have the capability to give my constituents 100% unbiased representation in virtually all matters that come before council. I also know I have the ability to represent those in my district in a fair way.

What do you hope to accomplish for your district while serving on Richland County Council?
Quality growth that brings a harmonious relationship between the citizens' desires to retain the ambiance of rural living as they know it and the business community's desire to expand into that same rural area. The needs and desires of both groups can be accomplished by coming to the table with a give and take attitude so that neither group appears to be the "bully".

What aspirations do you have for your tenure on County Council?
To be able to work in a professional way with integrity in order to make decisions based on the needs and the good of the community and not based on political orientation or special interest desires.

What strengths/abilities do you feel that you bring to County Council?
An honest, unbiased ability to review information presented which will allow me to arrive at sound, logical conclusions that will be in the best interest of the community I serve.

Eleazer family

Richland County Council, Conservation Commission and the Eleazer family signed on the dotted line and preserved the 250 year-old family land on Monday, December 10 as part of the County’s Conservation Easement Program.

The 62 acres are vital in helping to protect a sensitive ecological system of the Hollingshed Creek Watershed which drains to the Broad River. The Eleazer Family has a rich family heritage of agriculture, forestry, wildlife, recreation and conservation.

Citizens can volunteer their land and become partners with Richland County through a Conservation Easement agreement which protects valuable natural resources, ensures water quality, enhances wildlife habitat, and provides valuable green space in a rapid developing community.

For more information on Conservation Easements, Contact the Richland County Conservation Commission at 576-2084.
